Surounding area, Almond Villa is in Uzumlu which is situated eighteen kilometer's (15 minutes drive) inland from the bustling harbor town of Fethiye. It is situated in a lush green valley, surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful mountains. Uzumlu lies on the outskirts of Cadianda, the antique city of Lykia. Old Anatolian houses made of wood and stone queue up in a line with their peaceful courtyards, forming the charming streets of this interesting village. Some describe it as being reminiscent of Switzerland, only with sun! Uzumlu will appeal to people who want a scenic and tranquil setting, whilst having easy access to all the facilities that nearby Fethiye, and Calis Beach have to offer. Within 25 minutes you can be at the beautiful beach and stunning lagoon of Oludeniz. This beautiful area offers water sports, paragliding and much much more, both sporting and cultural. The  nearest beach is Calis which is just 10 minutes away, with its long promenade. Only slightly further is the secluded bay of Katranci. The Saklikent Gorge and the award winning 17 kilometre long Patara beach with fabulous white sand is less than an hour away too. Those more interested in archaeological sites can reach Tlos, Pinara, Xanthos and Letoon in around an hour, even Pamukkale is within the scope of a day’s outing thanks to the good quality main roads. However, one of the most stunningly situated classical sites of the region lies much closer to home. Ancient Cadianda, which has only been partially excavated, can be reached by car, or on foot from the villa  by those not deterred by a steep, uphill hike. Perched on the top of the hill behind Uzumlu, it has glorious views over the bay of Fethiye. Cadianda’s relative obscurity compared to that of more famous sites such as Ephesus means that you can wander undisturbed.

Local Area: For a taste of real Turkish village life, in an unspoilt rural setting that is extremely convenient for exploring a variety of fascinating historical sites, the picturesque village of Uzumlu would be hard to beat. Uzumlu makes an excellent base for holidaymakers wishing to experience many different types of days out that Turkey has to offer from boat trips and beaches, to ancient ruins.  Uzumlu nestles 500 metres above sea level on a fertile plateau surrounded by imposing mountains. The beauty of the setting and the charm of the village are popular with discerning visitors, but Uzumlu remains very much a proper working village, with the local community relying on agriculture and traditional crafts as its source of income. Uzumlu translates as “with grapes”  vines producing an abundant variety are much in evidence. There are several good quality restaurants and mini markets in and around the village.
Unlike other busy holiday destinations in Turkey, the Blue Lagoon here is a quiet spot and is a national park. It's an area of natural beauty, the most photographed beach in Turkey and is just a 25 minute drive away. However, the main beach of Oludeniz is also to be found here and with it's white sand, is far more livelier than that of the Blue Lagoon. It is full of good restaurants, bars and excellent shops. A great day on the beach as well as a good atmosphere for a night out or just drinks at sunset over the beautifull bay. The Baba Dag, towering 1969 m' behind Oludeniz (Dag pronounced Da means mountain, Baba means Father, in Turkish) offers three takeoff sites at 1700, 1800 and 1900 meters, facing SW , E and NE / SE respectively, for Tandem Paragliding which is widely available here. A straight glide towards the beach, which is the landing zone, gives you an average of 1400 meters above the sea, enough height to lazily fly above the small coves that make up the coastline east of the beach or carry out a couple of stunts with your instructor.
